La Trobe University Team
Bendigo athletes
Each year, La Trobe University puts together a team comprising students from all its campuses. The team is coordinated from the Bundoora campus. You may need to attend a tryout session in Melbourne for a chance at making the team of your choice. The BSA sports coordinator can keep you informed about times, dates, fundraising and other important stuff.

This event is for university and TAFE students from Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania and is one of three regional unigames events held each year on the same week in July.

The 'Southerns' typically involve a dozen or so team sports and the fierceness of the rivalry is only matched by the awesomeness of the social program.

In some sports, the Sotherns are qualifiers for the Aus Uni Games in September.

The AUGs is the major event on the Univeristy sports calendar and involves 29+ sports and over 6,000 students from across the country. Team La Trobe usually involves a substantial contingent of Bendigo students (over 50 in 2013).

While the University usually pick up the registration costs, students need to pay for their own transport and accommodation. The BSA can help fundraise for the games and sometimes offer a small subsidy for registered athletes.
